Just released a new solo single this past Friday entitled “Treacherous Weather.” It’s available on all major streaming platforms (some links below). Written, performed, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by me.
The last time I was determined and focused enough to sit down and compose (and record) new music was roughly this time last year, right after marathoning Season 1 of "Stranger Things." In anticipation of Season 2 of the show, I had been planning to write and record a new song inspired by the world of "Stranger Things." Fast forward to Thursday, October 26th and I had yet to really solidify anything. But, I can't stand setting goals and not fighting to achieve them. So, upon arriving home from work around 8:00pm to 12:00am October 27th, I wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered the first true song I've composed in nearly 2 years (Last year's "The Echo of the Acrobat" was more a instrumental/soundtrack score-type piece). Far from perfect -- and a bit far from capturing any of the spirit of "Stranger Things" -- but stoked I reached my goal.
"Away"
A mouth to sort
A heart to mend
Strung out on the thought of this fiction
A flood of lust
A loss of truth
Drunk on equations that divide you
Away
Absence is the variable that you need
Away
I don't want to be the one that takes you
A mouth for truth
An ear for lies
Dressed in garments of a guise
Hearing what you see
Seeing what you hear
Blinded by idealist fears
On Friday, October 28th, I released an experimental project at 5pm here on my website. I say "experimental" as it was a personal exercise in trying to compose a soundtrack unlike anything I had done before. It was available as the landing page to qstruke.com until today, but it is still available to check out at the link below.
